When we teach our children to desire virtue above all else, they become courageous, honest, and just: Their actions make society a better place. When we teach our children to desire success above all else, they become calculating and their actions make society a worse place: For even in a very unjust society, a good person can be virtuous by standing against it, though it lead to his or he ruin, but the success-minded person will only seek to play the game of injustice more adeptly than his or her neighbor, making their society ever more deeply unjust.
